David consistently had a desire to give God the praise and glory due His name. Beyond penning many songs of worship, David desired to bring the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem and place it in a tent that he would prepare for it because the tabernacle at Shiloh had been destroyed during the invasion of the Philistines while Eli was High Priest. David later desired to build a temple for the LORD but was told that Solomon would accomplish this for the LORD. In all of this, we see in David a heart and desire to worship the LORD. In our passage today, we see this heart, but we also see the neglect to worship God according to truth. In the process, a man named Uzzah lost his life. We can learn a valuable lesson from this life of David about how we must worship our great God.
