And He Followed Jesus—Josiah Kagin

A true friend is the one who walks in when others walk out. —Unknown

Jesus, the Son of God, came into the world to serve the greatest need of humanity. “For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)  Through His life and ministry on earth, He consistently demonstrated His loyal love and true friendship by serving both people’s temporal physical needs and their eternal spiritual needs. In today’s narrative, we find Jesus on His way to Jerusalem. There He would willingly lay down His life as the full payment for all the sins of all mankind that God required. This would be the most extravagant demonstration of love and friendship the world would ever see. Yet on His way, Jesus took time to be a true friend to one blind man and gave him back his sight. He had a need that only Jesus could have met and when Jesus did, Bartimaeus followed Jesus. May this be our story as well.
