Extending the Triumph of Christ—Mission Weeks 2022—J...

Paul is in the middle of his third missionary journey. He has just left places like Ephesus and Smyrna. God had been at work in major ways. In fact, every where that Paul preached the truth of the Gospel, it triumphed in lives. As Paul came into the city of Troas, he could not help but remember how God had specifically directed him through a vision to continue on to Macedonia. He had not had time to preach the Gospel in Troas, but as he did, it was clear that God had opened the hearts of the townspeople. Many were believing on Christ and a church was planted. He stayed and preached even though he had a nagging worry in his heart. He had written a heavy letter to the dear believers in Corinth addressing the sin of division and fornication in the church. He wanted to know how those who were addressed had responded. Titus was supposed to have met him in Troas with the report, but Titus was no where to be found. Paul journeyed on to Macedonia and finally found Titus. After Paul heard Titus’ report, he wrote a second letter to the Corinthians. While he needed to clarify a few misconceptions, Paul did rejoice in how God was extending the triumph of Christ in every place God sent Paul. As we begin our Mission Weeks, let’s see how Christ desires to do the same through our lives in every place.
