The fundamental need of every person in America is Jesus Christ. One to the hindrances to the spread of the Good News of Jesus Christ is religion itself. Religion is a man made system of meriting the favor of God or gods. There is an estimated 4,200 different religions in the world today. Many find a false sense of security in a religious tradition, ritual or experience. Such was the case in Ephesus. In our passage today, Paul providentially met and struck up a conversation with twelve devoutly religious men in that city who had some misunderstandings concerning their need. As Paul shared the truth of Jesus Christ, they realized their true need and received Christ. Paul continued to spread the word of the Lord Jesus with great effectiveness in spite of the opposition. In this day, we must remember that God’s Word works!
