A Personal Prayer for Revival – Talk Less, Pray More...

The context of Psalm 51 is that David had committed adultery with Bathsheba and then murdered her husband, Uriah, via a military command. He tried to hide it for months, but the truth came out because of Bathsheba’s pregnancy and the confrontation by the man of God. As David response to the chastening of God, we find him returning to God and desiring with all his heart to be right with God. He sees his God as perfectly holy, yet enduringly merciful. David understands that he had sinned and was no longer looking for ways to hide it or to downplay it. He just wanted to be right…he wanted to be revived.
