When preparing Moses for greater usefulness, God told him to throw down his rod. It turned into a venemous snake. As Moses fled, God commanded him to pick up the snake in an unconventional way. As Moses did, God turned the snake into a rod again. This rod would become a centerpiece of Moses' ministry and an visible token of the power of God.
