Rest with the Savior – Rest – Josiah Kagin

In Matthew 11, Jesus has confronted both a restless generation and their resulting great rejection. They had rejected the preaching of John the Baptist and the person of Christ the Messiah. Jesus pled with the gathered crowd to hear His message and invited them to himself with seventeen wonderful words. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He promised rest to all those who would come to Him, acknowledging their exhausting labor to be good enough for God and the burden of their own sinfulness. Those who would respond in faith to His invitation would receive the rest of Christ’s eternal salvation. It does not end there! Jesus goes on to describe how those who have received His salvation can experience rest with Him throughout their daily lives no matter what is happening. This He does with two commands and a promise.
